About TechTable

My name is Ben Beyeler and I own and operate TechTable, a computer consulting business in Goshen, Indiana. While my focus is computer consulting for nonprofit organizations, I also assist businesses and individuals in their technology needs. You can refer to the Services page for more details on the type of work I offer.

A brief history
After attending Goshen College and receiving a degree in Business Information Systems, I worked at MapleTronics Computers, Inc. for a year. As an 'outside technician' I supported networks, servers, and workstations at businesses, including Windows and Netware servers, desktop computers and school computer labs.

A year later I was searching for ways to work more directly with persons and organizations with greater needs. So I signed up to serve  in Washington, D.C., with Mennonite Voluntary Service. My assignment was at CITI (Community I.T. Innovators), an organization that does computer consulting for nonprofits. I worked with various clients that year, including helping in after-school computer labs, teaching computer classes to G.E.D. students.

That year was a great introduction to the important work nonprofts do, as well as their constant technology struggles. I realized that I really enjoyed using my skills to assist them in finding new solutions. After a year as a volunteer, I was hired as a technician at CITI. CITI's model of support was to become involved in the life of the client in order to know how to advice and support their technology. I visited my clients a few times each month in order to answer all their questions and to keep their computers up-to-date with what they were working on. This proactive approach cut down on larger problems from arising as often.

When I moved back to Goshen, Indiana, to be closer to family, I started volunteering at the Center for Healing and Hope, an urgent-care clinic for people who cannot afford traditional health services,  while I was looking for my next job. I helped them set up a network, Internet access, a website and a database to keep track of their patients. TechTable was officially formed in January 2004 as I began to connect with more local organizations and assist them with their computer support needs.
